The Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 that was pushed through Congress just last week is a terrific example of all that is wrong with the Left. The proposed legislation includes $4.5 billion over 10 years for programs that are designed to…teach children how to eat.

Yup, the United States government has officially become Mom and Dad — which works out well for moms like Monet Parham, who’s suing McDonald’s for offering Happy Meals on their menu.

I am concerned about the health of my children and feel that McDonald’s should be a very limited part of their diet and their childhood experience. But as other busy working moms and dads know, we have to say ‘no’ to our young children so many times, and McDonald’s makes that so much harder to do. I object to the fact that McDonald’s is getting into my kids’ heads without my permission and actually changing what my kids want to eat.

This is a classic case of inept parenting. Lucky for her, Ms. Parham has a friend in another inept parent: Michelle Obama.

She was also once exasperated with trying to feed her kids. During her Let’s Move campaign last year, she said this:

Before coming to the White House, the president and I lived like most families: two working parents — too busy, not enough time, and I found myself unable to cook a good meal for my kids. Going to fast food more than I’d like, ordering pizza, and I started to see the effects on my family, particularly my kids.

Today, Mrs. Obama has a cook to oversee her children’s eating habits and has conveniently forgotten the significance of what she learned. Rather than suggest parents change their lifestyle to accommodate the needs of children, she passes legislation designed to take the onus off parents. According to Mrs. Obama,

Happiest Toddler Parents TV - For Mom

He's advocating relating to your child at their level. It doesn't help to use your PhD words if they're screaming and crying. He's talking about validating your child by acknowledging their feelings, then providing direction. I wouldn't lay next to a child while they tantrum as it reinforces negative behavior. I would go straight to the acknowledgment of feelings and then ignore. BTW, you don't have time NOT to practice good parenting.

I read this book and yeah you do feel stupid at first doing the technics but I have never been so blown away in my life. My 2 yr grandbaby would have major meltdowns if she was tired and I tried exactly what he says to do an it works so well!! Its amazing and I wish I read this book a long time ago. It totally explains how toddlers think about things and I'm so glad I read this book. If you just try it I promise time with your baby -thru 5yr old will be so much more fun an relaxing!!! Try it!!

Late Night Texting Affecting Teens Health

VICTORIA -- They are constantly sending messages and they don't stop when the lights go out. Dr. Peter Polos of JFK Medical Centre in New Jersey surveyed 40 kids and teens and found in an evening anywhere from thirty to one-hundred texts flew out of their phones.
Although the sample was small, late night texting has the potential to turn into a big problem during the day. In addition to general fatigue, kids who texted late were more likely to say they suffered from anxiety, depression, A-D-H-D and learning difficulties.
"The impact of this over time is cumulative sleep debt which s very difficult to pay back" says Polos.
More than three quarters said they had trouble getting to sleep at night and many said they were awakened by text in the middle of the night.
Oak Bay High School Principal Dave Thomson says it's up to adults to teach kids how to be responsible with their usage.
"Ultimately we have to work with kids, teach them, help them make the right decisions and acknowledge the mistake we make with the same technology and kids will grow from that I think."
And if that doesn't work it may be time for drastic measures says Polos.
"Unless you take the cell phone away from the child they are really able to do whatever they want whenever they want"
But if healthy kids is what we want, it may be time to trade in the lol's for some zzzzz's.
